"Catching Bears(-garlic) in the Forest

Over here in Germany spring is famous for wild bear's garlic. The slim leaves smell and taste like garlic, but if you put them into your food, you won't smell yourself the next day. And it's also very healthy.

During the past years we saw the bear's garlic covering the ground in several forests near by - and in the English Garden in Munich.  That was always by chance and we never had bags to collect anything with us.

On Monday my friend and I decided to go looking for it, as online friends had be talking about their harvests in eastern parts of Germany. Well, over here the bear's garlic has just started to grow - there should be plenty more in a couple of days. So we only picked a little to show that we had found it.

And then we sat on a log at the edge of the forest and enjoyed a kind of summer day on the last day of March.

Look - Bears ar strong - even in Bear's garlic! They grow straight through fallen leaves.
